Lavender Bread
Ingredients Needed: 2 Tble dried lavender flowers, coarsely chopped ¾ c milk 6 Tble butter 1 c sugar 2 eggs 2 c all-purpose flour 1 ½ tsp baking powder ¼ tsp salt 1/2 c powdered sugar 1-2 Tble lemon juice
1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease a loaf pan. 2. In a saucepan, heat milk and flowers until bubbles begin to form around edge of pan. Do not boil. Allow to cool. 3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. 4. Add eggs one at a time, scraping the bowl and beating well after each addition. 5. Mix dry ingredients together. Add dry ingredients, alternately with milk, in three batches, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. 6. Pour batter into greased loaf pan and bake 50-55 min. 7. Allow to cool slightly in pan on rack. Turn loaf out onto cooling rack. Cool slightly before icing.
To ice:
Whisk together powdered sugar with lemon juice. Drizzle over bread. Sprinkle with dried lavender flowers, if desired.
