Green Power!!!
Our shop has been using partial wind power energy for our company since the inception late 2003.
Now ConEd (for us in the northeast - check your local energy supplier) has the option to transfer all our energy to 100% wind or wind and hydropower. On average, consumer bills will be 3%-10% higher but the higher premiums are an investment in our future. Premiums are reinvested in future green friendly energy facilities, increasing and diversifying the energy supply and making New York and cleaner and greener place.
Green friendly options are available for all businesses and residents.
www.ConEd.com use the drop down menu to find Green Power and find out about all the options.
Unfortunately, you still have to call Con Ed to transfer your energy source. Be patient - its well worth taking a few minutes out of your day. And most importantly do not let Con Ed discourage you from your decision by warning you of a higher bill. It is really insignificant and you probably will not even notice the increase on your bill but the reduction of fossill fuels in kilowatts is reflected on the bill and that is exciting.
